The Banto is one of the animals commonly found in the game. They bear similarities to deer and moose due to their antlers and are typically found in the company of a Bantae. As of the Shark Riders Update, the Banto can be equipped with a saddle to make it a Domesticated Banto, which is faster than a human.
Appearance[]
They resemble deers and moose. They are normally a shade of brown, but this can change depending on their surroundings. For example, the original Banto is a light brown reflecting its surroundings, while the Arctic Banto wears a snow-coat reflecting the Ice Island.
Location[]
They are found in most areas of the map.
Drops[]
When killed, the Banto will drop two Raw Meat and one Hide. This amount changes depending on the variety.
Domestication[]
A Domesticated Banto is a surprisingly fast land mount, which spawns from attaching a saddle on any Banto, with the only exceptions being the Crystal Bantae, Rento, and Rentae. However, if you attach a saddle to any variant other than the regular Banto, like the snow Banto, its appearance changes to a regular Banto. The Domestic Banto is likely twice as fast as a normal player, as of the ??? update. The head of the Banto is incredibly glitchy, and can be used to scale wooden walls.
If you domesticate a Banto, catch it with a steel net, then drop a leaf and put the domestic Banto onto the leaf, it is possible to perform a flight glitch, giving you a way to fly your way up to the crystal island, normally inaccessible in normal gameplay.
A saddled banto can be ridden within water to be a silly (and expensive) replacement for a Raft, but this can put the player at risk for getting killed by a Lurky Boi.
Domesticated Bantos can also be killed on the Void Gate to activate the Void Portal. The same applies for domesticated Bantaes.
Varieties[]
- A Golden Banto can be found on top of the Floating Island that drops Gold and Coins, which contributes to its rarity and value.
- A Rento can be found on the island near the Volcano that drops three Raw Meat and one Fire Hide. The Rentae found next to it only drops meat.
- On the third Sky Island, there is a Crystal Bantae that drops five Crystal Chunks.
